A New Year

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed… they are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

Dear Master, for this coming year just one request I bring:

I do not pray for happiness,
Or any earthly thing-
I do not ask to understand
The way thou leadest me,
But this I ask: Teach me to do
The thing that please Thee
I want to know Thy guiding voice,
To walk with Thee each day.
Dear Master, make me swift to hear
And ready to obey.
And thus the year I now begin
A happy year will be-
If I am seeking just to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.

Thought for the Day:
May you grow closer to the Lord this year and experience His peace and joy.

$8 Billion in used gift cards.

An estimated $8 billion worth gift cards went unused last year, according to the Consumer Reports' National Research Center. Where did all that money go? Back to the companies who sold the gift cards. Just think of what $8 billion could have done for the world's poor. It could have fed starving families, brought life-saving medicines to whole communities, provided care for lonely orphans and more.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

>>> a.e. <<<

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
~
From God our heavenly Father
A blessed angel cameA
nd unto certain shepherds
Brought tiding of the same
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by name
~
"Fear not, then," said the angel
"Let nothing you affright
This day is born a Savior
Of a pure virgin bright
To free all those who trust in him
From Satan's power and might."
~
Now to the Lord sing praises
All you within this place
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace
this holy tide of Christmas
Doth bring redeeming grace

The Power of Lies

Proverbs 25:18 (New Living Translation)

18 Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.

Receiving criticism can cause us pain, but as this verse shows, we can be harmed even more severely by words that are not spoken to our faces. For instance, a rumor can devastate a person's reputation. Sadly, Western culture is so charmed by gossip that it has magazines, television shows, and Internet sites dedicated to spreading vicious information about people. But God's standard for His people is different from the world's standard. We must be honest when talking about others. Gossip should not be found in our churches. Make a commitment today to tell the truth in love about others.

Don't Gloat

We like to see people get what's coming to them. If we get fired we want the company to struggle because of our departure. If we get cut off in traffic, we sometimes hope that the person who did it gets a ticket for (or worse!). We always face the strong temptation to rejoice when our enemies fall into trouble. But when we react this way, we miss a golden opportunity to demonstrate the reality of God's mercy in our lives. How many times would God have been justified to let you fall under the weight of your own sin? Think about that the next time you are tempted to hope for the worst for those who cross you. Show them the same love God has shown you

NLT

Proverbs 24:17-18 (New Living Translation)

17 Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
18 For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.

GOD IS AT WORK

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you...being confident...that HE who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3,6

God loved you , chose you, drew you, enlightened you , and saved you -- and He is not finished with you yet.
God desires that your foremost pursuit would be your deepening relationship with Jesus Christ. Purpose and passion, peace and contentment would then characterize your life. Consider that the HOLY SPIRIT gave the apostle Paul joy even while he was in prison. The same joy is available to you whatever your present circumstances.
Another one of God's desires for you is to bring you into the center of HIS activity according to HIS kingdom purpose for your life. So stand before Him with a heart of ready obedience. After all, God alone knows what you will become as you serve Him according to His plan.
Finally,be encouraged to know that God continues to be at work in you. The challenge you face is to walk with Him and to completely release your self to His will. You can trust your day to day life - as well as your eternal future- to Him.

Christian Political View

We are a group interested in bringing Christians together to voice their concerns and give each other support in today's trying times. Despite what some people say, Christians should speak up when they see government headed the wrong way.
Proclaiming the saving power of Jesus Christ is a goal each of us asked to reach.
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his toughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Proverbs 23:12

Study God's Word:

People can learn and memorize all kinds of knowledge. Sports fan can spout off statistics and scores. A history buff can remember dates and place names. A chef has many recipes memorized. Do we come to the Bible with the same enthusiasm for learning? Are we so entranced with God's Word that we memorize its contents? Take this verse to heart and treat God's Word as the most important source of knowledge in your life, then commit yourself to study it.

Proverbs 23:12 (New Living Translation)

12 Commit yourself to instruction;
listen carefully to words of knowledge.

"I Stand for Christmas"

Focus on the Family Action's research team has updated our Christmas-Friendly Shopping Guide and there is some good news and some bad news. First, the good news…

Our team has moved four high-profile national retailers from the "Christmas negligent" to the "Christmas friendly" list. This is great news. Go here to access our most up-to-date Christmas Friendly Shopping Guide. Now for the bad news…Five remain on Focus Action's "Christmas offensive" retailers list for their apparent abandonment of any mention of "Christmas" in their promotions. Those five are: American Eagle, Banana Republic, Bloomingdales, Lane Bryant and Old Navy.
