Where do we go when we die?

Question: "When do we go to Heaven? Is it when we die or is it after the final judgment? If it is after the final judgment, then where are we between the time we are dead and the time when we are all finally judged?" Thanks, Anthony B. 7/04

Answer:
Before Christ was born, died and rose from the dead, those who trusted in God went to a place called Abraham's bosom. When Christ died, he went there, and took the believers to paradise. They will remain there until Christ returns to earth, and they with him.
People who are saved that die today (in the years after Christ rose from the dead) go straight to paradise.

There is no such place as purgatory.
