A New Year

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed… they are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

Dear Master, for this coming year just one request I bring:

I do not pray for happiness,
Or any earthly thing-
I do not ask to understand
The way thou leadest me,
But this I ask: Teach me to do
The thing that please Thee
I want to know Thy guiding voice,
To walk with Thee each day.
Dear Master, make me swift to hear
And ready to obey.
And thus the year I now begin
A happy year will be-
If I am seeking just to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.

Thought for the Day:
May you grow closer to the Lord this year and experience His peace and joy.

$8 Billion in used gift cards.

An estimated $8 billion worth gift cards went unused last year, according to the Consumer Reports' National Research Center. Where did all that money go? Back to the companies who sold the gift cards. Just think of what $8 billion could have done for the world's poor. It could have fed starving families, brought life-saving medicines to whole communities, provided care for lonely orphans and more.

The Power of Lies

Proverbs 25:18 (New Living Translation)

18 Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.

Receiving criticism can cause us pain, but as this verse shows, we can be harmed even more severely by words that are not spoken to our faces. For instance, a rumor can devastate a person's reputation. Sadly, Western culture is so charmed by gossip that it has magazines, television shows, and Internet sites dedicated to spreading vicious information about people. But God's standard for His people is different from the world's standard. We must be honest when talking about others. Gossip should not be found in our churches. Make a commitment today to tell the truth in love about others.

Don't Gloat

We like to see people get what's coming to them. If we get fired we want the company to struggle because of our departure. If we get cut off in traffic, we sometimes hope that the person who did it gets a ticket for (or worse!). We always face the strong temptation to rejoice when our enemies fall into trouble. But when we react this way, we miss a golden opportunity to demonstrate the reality of God's mercy in our lives. How many times would God have been justified to let you fall under the weight of your own sin? Think about that the next time you are tempted to hope for the worst for those who cross you. Show them the same love God has shown you

NLT

Proverbs 24:17-18 (New Living Translation)

17 Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
18 For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.

GOD IS AT WORK

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you...being confident...that HE who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3,6

God loved you , chose you, drew you, enlightened you , and saved you -- and He is not finished with you yet.
God desires that your foremost pursuit would be your deepening relationship with Jesus Christ. Purpose and passion, peace and contentment would then characterize your life. Consider that the HOLY SPIRIT gave the apostle Paul joy even while he was in prison. The same joy is available to you whatever your present circumstances.
Another one of God's desires for you is to bring you into the center of HIS activity according to HIS kingdom purpose for your life. So stand before Him with a heart of ready obedience. After all, God alone knows what you will become as you serve Him according to His plan.
Finally,be encouraged to know that God continues to be at work in you. The challenge you face is to walk with Him and to completely release your self to His will. You can trust your day to day life - as well as your eternal future- to Him.

Christian Political View

We are a group interested in bringing Christians together to voice their concerns and give each other support in today's trying times. Despite what some people say, Christians should speak up when they see government headed the wrong way.
Proclaiming the saving power of Jesus Christ is a goal each of us asked to reach.
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his toughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Proverbs 23:12

Study God's Word:

People can learn and memorize all kinds of knowledge. Sports fan can spout off statistics and scores. A history buff can remember dates and place names. A chef has many recipes memorized. Do we come to the Bible with the same enthusiasm for learning? Are we so entranced with God's Word that we memorize its contents? Take this verse to heart and treat God's Word as the most important source of knowledge in your life, then commit yourself to study it.

Proverbs 23:12 (New Living Translation)

12 Commit yourself to instruction;
listen carefully to words of knowledge.

She was born Wednesday, November 26, at 8:20 A.M., and she weighs 7 pounds, 8 ounces. She is 20 and a half inches. When she was born, we asked her two-year-old big sister Stella what she had to say. She said, "Hallelujah!" I'm not kidding!

I need to act as if I believe

Psalm 27:13,14
I remember the verse that the Lord gave me over 6 months ago.

Yet I am confident I will see the LORD'S goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
Wait patiently for the LORD , be brave and courageous Yes wait patiently for the LORD.

This morning I read.
John 4:46-54
46 As he traveled through Galilee, he came to Cana, where he had turned the water into wine. There was a government official in nearby Capernaum whose son was very sick.
47 When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Jesus to come to Capernaum to heal his son, who was about to die.
48 Jesus asked, “Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?”
49 The official pleaded, “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies.”
50 Then Jesus told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” And the man believed what Jesus said and started home.
51 While the man was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well.
52 He asked them when the boy had begun to get better, and they replied, “Yesterday afternoon at one o’clock his fever suddenly disappeared!”
53 Then the father realized that that was the very time Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and his entire household believed in Jesus.
54 This was the second miraculous sign Jesus did in Galilee after coming from Judea.

Saying that I believe Jesus can take care of our problems isn't enough I need to act as if I believe
the He can.

Protect Marriage.com

November 12, 2008

Statement of Ron Prentice, Chairman, ProtectMarriage.com – Yes on 8

“In last Tuesday’s election, the people of California placed the traditional definition of marriage into the state Constitution. This victory would not have been possible without the support of our 70,000 contributors and over 100,000 dedicated volunteers. It was accomplished with the strong participation of about 80% of California voters, or nearly 14 million people participating in this expression of the People’s will. It is the same process that resulted in the historic election of Barack Obama as President of the United States – with about the same percentage of the national vote as received by Proposition 8 in California.

“Since Proposition 8’s victory, a series of protests against churches, small businesses and individual supporters of traditional marriage have taken place in cities across the state. Tragically, some opponents of Prop. 8 who claim to cherish tolerance and civil rights are unabashedly trampling on the rights of others. Protests and boycotts have taken place against a Hispanic restaurant owner in Los Angeles, African American religious leaders in the Bay Area, and a musical theater director in Sacramento, among many others.

“As a diverse group representing many cultural backgrounds, our coalition stands together in solidarity with those whose property and rights are being attacked for the simple act of supporting traditional marriage. No matter your opinion of Proposition 8, we should all agree that it is wrong to intimidate and harass churches, businesses and individuals for participating in the democratic process. We call on our governmental leaders to urge all citizens to respect the rights of everyone to express their views on marriage without fear of reprisal and recrimination.

“ProtectMarriage.com also wants you to know that a strong legal defense of Proposition 8 is being prepared. We anticipated that Prop 8’s passage would result in advocates of same-sex marriage turning to the courts to attempt to overturn the People’s affirmation of traditional marriage as a societal good. We will be announcing our legal strategy next week, but rest assured that we will vigorously defend the People’s will to enshrine traditional marriage in the state Constitution.

“We are extremely grateful to the 5.7 million voters who stood up to support traditional marriage, and to all those who gave generously of their time and resources to protect the institution of marriage. We look forward to continuing to work with you to protect marriage in California and ensure that the People’s vote is respected.”

Twice now the people of California have approved propositions defining marriage as between a man and a woman. It will again be challenged in our state supreme court. Spiritual Warfare

The power of the evil words.

The proliferation of communication media in our day has made it temptingly easy to pass along gossip and slander. As Christians, we must resist this temptation. When we say something nasty about someone, we fail to heed God's command to act lovingly toward all people, and such actions cause deep hurts and destroy friendships, as these verses point out. The wise person chooses his or her words carefully, judging them by God's standards. In this way we can avoid many hurtful situations and preserve our friendships.
These verses show how a person's speech can affect a community. Notice the references to the city, neighbors, gossip (which involves networks of people) and the nation.
This brief section focuses on benevolence - the disposition to do good and show kindness to others. Again, all the comparisons are antithetical.

Proverbs 11
11 Upright citizens are good for a city and make it prosper,
but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.

12 It is foolish to belittle one’s neighbor;
a sensible person keeps quiet.

13 A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.

14 Without wise leadership, a nation falls;
there is safety in having many advisers.

15 There’s danger in putting up security for a stranger’s debt;
it’s safer not to guarantee another person’s debt.

Michelle Obama's Thesis

According to Snopes.Com, Princeton was requested to put a 'restriction' on distribution of any copies of the thesis of Michelle Obama (a/k/a/ Michelle laVaughn Robinson ) saying it could not be made available until November 5, 2008 but when it was published on a political website they decided they would lift the restriction. Http://WWW.snopes.Com/politics/obama/thesis.asp Subj: Thesis - Michele Obama aka Michelle LaVaughn RobinsonOBAMA'S MILITANT RACISM REVEALED

In her senior thesis at Princeton , Michele Obama , the wife of Barack Obama
Stated that America was a nation founded on 'crime and hatred'.

Moreover, she stated that whites in America were 'ineradicably racist'. The
1985 thesis, titled 'Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community' was
Written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson .
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to 'Whites at Princeton , it often
Seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first...' However, it was reported
By a fellow black classmate, 'If those 'Whites at Princeton ' really saw Michelle
As one who always would 'be Black first,' it seems that she gave them that
Impression.

Most alarming is Michele Obama 's use of the terms 'separationist' and
'integrationist' when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a 'separationist' view of race.
'By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as
A result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.'
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to
Her 'further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.'

Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but
She elevates black over white in her world.
Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:
'There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black
Community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize
All of my present and future resources to benefit the black
Community first and foremost.'

What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she's first
Lady that will elevate black over white in America ?
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action
Policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
'Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically
Designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of
Their enrollments.'
The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.
Michelle Obama's poll of black alumni concludes that other black students
at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than
celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common
American culture more than they value the color of their skin. 'I hoped that
these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of
identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational
path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a
certain level of identification with the black community. However, these
findings do not support this possibility.'
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire?
Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see
Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted
with one another.
The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama 's thoughts and
world view seen through a race-based prism. This is a very
divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold
damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama
administration.

Michelle Obama's intellectually refined racism should give all
Americans pause for deep concern.
Now maybe she's changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to
grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously
racist comment about American whites? I am sure that it will.
PS: We paid for her scholarship.

California teachers vs. traditional marriage

Last week, Michelle noted the public school propaganda war on traditional marriage — in the form of a first-grader field trip to a wedding of two lesbian teachers opposed to Proposition 8. That’s the ballot measure to protect marriage.
CTA, the far Left teachers’ union in California, has now donated $1 million to defeat the proposition. It was noted their first $250,000 installment for the same-sex marriage lobby in August.

It’s all for the children, of course:

California’s largest teacher’s union has given another $1 million to defeat a Nov. 4 ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
The contribution recorded Tuesday makes the California Teachers Association the largest institutional donor to the No on 8 campaign. CTA also gave $250,000 in August to Equality for All, a coalition of gay advocacy and civil rights groups opposing Proposition 8.
Union spokeswoman Sandra Jackson says CTA’s 800-member policy body voted overwhelmingly to oppose the gay marriage ban. Jackson says the issue concerns educators because “teachers teach the importance of equal rights for all.”
She says CTA leaders made the second contribution this week because the No campaign seems to be struggling.

Reader Beckie is a teacher in Cali and she’s sick to her stomach:

I just wanted to thank you for your website. I went home sick to my stomach today when I realized that CTA had donated 1 million dollars to ‘No on Prop. 8.’ CTA clearly does not see in the long run that they are perhaps cutting their own throats as parents flock to private schools or begin home schooling as parents realize that they do not want radical ideas dictated to their children.
I am a conservative elementary school teacher living in the Bay Area. (Lion’s Den) I bravely had a Bush bumper sticker on my car last election but this election, I felt that anything conservative message on my vehicle might mean my car being vandalized. (by the other teachers) I don’t think I am the only conservative CTA member and I would love to find a forum that our voice can be heard without threat of losing our standing in our school districts.
Again, I appreciate your viewpoint and I’m bookmarking your website right now.

Proverbs 3:27

Church

Doing good to others. Luke 6:36 says, "You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate." 'Sure." you may say, "but God doesn't have to live with my husband!" But kindness is most needed where it is most difficult to give. Is your neighbor grouchy with your children? Show him kindness. Does your boss irk you? Find ways to show him kindness. Do you have a relative who gossips about your family? Go out of your way to show love. Use kindness, not anger, as your reaction to the grumpy people in your life. Remember, God is kind to you, and you certainly haven't deserved the half of it!

This lesson is first for me, my Lord is breaking me...

The true meaning of Love!!!

1 John 4:20-21 (New Living Translation)

New Living Translation (NLT)
Holy Bible. New Living Translation copyright © 1996, 2004 by Tyndale Charitable Trust. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers.

20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister,[a] that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? 21 And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their Christian brothers and sisters.[b]

We cannot truly love God while neglecting to love those who are created in His image.
Meaning everyone around us even our enemies.

Life Lessons

For so many years I thought I was taking care of my family in a way the world would say honorable, financially taking care of my family's needs. Since like many people who have ample we never seem to need Lord in the good time. Recently the Lord allowed all the normal problems into my family which we brought upon ourselves. We finally had a turning point in all of our lives and we rededicate ourselves to the Lord. In my old ways I felt good because I was taking care of my family, now in my financial difficulties the devil is making me feel like I'm not taking care of my family. It's far greater that my family is saved by God's grace than to have any kind of wealth. My lesson is like Paul says what does it matter what my situation here on earth is when it's important where you spend your enterity.

Keep On Praying

Keep on praying

O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide them when I am trouble?
Psalm 10:1 Student's Life Application Study Bible NLT

To the psalmist God seemed far away, "Why do you hide when I am in trouble?" he asked God. But though he had honest doubts he didn't stop praying. He also didn't assume that God no longer cared. Would you have the same reaction in a moment of doubt? During those times when you feel alone or forgotten are you willing to stick with God?

I have been walking around with a heavy heart the last few days.
I will not stop praying.

Randy Travis - Raise Him Up

RAISE HIM UP by Randy Travis

When I first met his momma
She was just nineteen
Couldn't say for certain who the father was
I have known him since he was a pup
And I'm gonna raise him up

If you never knew your daddy
Like I never knew mine
It feels like everybody knows you're fatherless
This boy may not be blood of my blood
But I'm gonna raise him up

I'll provide for him
Walk beside of him
I am strong enough
Cause it's time he knew
What a son can do
With a father's love
He can change the world

Ya'll may have to look at joseph
A couple thousand years ago
When he held a newborn baby he named jesus
He said he may not be blood of my blood
Still I'm gonna raise him up

I'll provide for him
Walk beside of him
I am strong enough
I will show him too
What a son can do
With a fathers love
And he will change the world

Thirty-three years later
When the son was in his grave
Broken and abandoned by a world he came to save
His real dad said, He's mine
Blood of my blood
And I'm gonna raise him up

I'll provide for you
Walk beside of you
I am strong enough
I have seen from you
What a son can do
With a fathers love
One man changed the world
And he can change your world
But you gotta raise him up
Raise him up

MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER

Congressional leaders have decided to start their summer recess early. That means we have just 3 days to get our petitions to Congress and press Members of Congress to defend free speech.

I have instructed my staff to make one more emergency petition delivery to the 30 key lawmakers in the House who can tip the scales on this issue--urging them to let the Broadcaster Freedom Act come to the floor for a full and fair up-or-down vote before they leave!

That means, if we reach our goal of 200,000 petitions, MRC representatives will be delivering 6 million petitions this week!

But in order to reach our 200,000 petitions goal, we need another 20,000 petitions in the next 48 hours.

JOSHUA, please forward this alert to 25-30
friends and family members urging them to take a
stand for the preservation of our First Amendment Rights
by clicking here:

http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?u=9715&PID=17801649

+ + Liberals want to silence conservative speech!

This second delivery is critical, in my opinion, because the American people deserve to know where their Member of Congress stands on this vital First Amendment issue.

We need to put them on notice that we aren't going to allow the looming threat of the "Fairness Doctrine" and government censorship to be held over our heads.

+ + Breaking Pelosi's gag order

Since our last petition presentation, we've learned that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has placed what amounts to a "gag order"
on House members regarding this bill.

Pelosi hasn't been shy about her desire to stifle free speech on the airwaves and is eager to keep the Fairness Doctrine alive.

That's why we must continue to press harder--via phone calls, faxes and petitions until the pressure becomes too great, and Congress does the right thing by bringing the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the floor.

We must deliver 200,000 petitions to Congress by this Friday!

JOSHUA, I don't have to tell you what is at stake if we don't win this battle, and I know I can count on you to help push us past our goal. Don’t let Congress go on vacation before holding an up or down vote on the Broadcaster Freedom Act.

Thank you for your incredible support!

I just signed a petition opposing the so-called "Fairness Doctrine"
and similar efforts to silence conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Sean Hannity.

Now I understand that liberal leaders are blocking an effort to protect the rights of conservatives.

Maranatha

WHAT DOES "MARANATHA" MEAN?"

Maranatha" itself is an ancient Hebrew-Aramaic word that meant alternatively, "the Lord is coming soon," or "Oh, Lord, Come Soon." It was part of the Jewish congregational prayers in the first century. It occurs in the New Testament in 1 Cor. 16:22 (the Aramaic word is transliterated into Greek letters in the text). The word came into English as a transliteration as well, along with a few other Hebrew words ("Hallelujah" and "Hosanna" are other common examples).

The Theology of Resting in God

When We Are Afraid, the least we can do is pray to God. But our Lord has a right to expect that those who name His name have an underlying confidence in Him. God expects His children to be so confident in Him that in any crisis they are the ones who are reliable. Yet our trust is only in God up to a certain point, then we turn back to the elementary panic-stricken prayers of those people who do not even know God. We come to our wit's end, showing that we don't have even the slightest amount of confidence in Him or in His sovereign control of the world. To us He seems to be asleep, and we can see nothing but giant, breaking waves on the sea ahead of us.
"...O you have little faith!" What a stinging pain must have shot through the disciples as they surely thought to themselves, "We missed the mark again!" And what a sharp pain will go throught us when we suddenly realize that we could have produced complete and utter joy in the heart of Jesus by remaining absolutely confident in Him, in spite of what we were facing.
There are times when there is no storm or crisis in our lives, and we do all that is humanly possible. But it is when a crisis arises that we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. If we have been learning to worship God and to place our trust in Him, the crisis will reveal that we can go to the point of breaking, yet without breaking our confidence in Him.
We have been talking quite a lot about sanctification, but what will be the results in our lives? It will expressed in our lives as a peaceful resting in God, which means a total oneness with Him. And this oneness will make us not only blameless in His sight, but also a profound joy to Him.

Matthew 8:26

Please Pray for Pastor Greg and the Laurie Family

Christopher Laurie, son of Pastor Greg Laurie and Cathe Laurie, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning.

Christopher, 33, died in a car crash while driving to Harvest Christian Fellowship, where he had served as the church's art director for the past three years.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his wife, Brittany, and daughter, Stella, as well as his brother Jonathan. Christopher and his wife are expecting another daughter in November.

More information will be posted at harvest.org as details become available.

We ask that you pray for the Laurie family in this time of mourning. You may pass along your condolences and thoughts for the Laurie family by posting a comment at Pastor Greg's blog.

VICTORY FOR GINA ... AND THE FIRST AMENDMENT

Gina had perfect grades - until she took a stand for her faith, in opposition to her professor. Her Intro to Philosophy college professor not only docked her grades, but also repeatedly derided Gina for her faith. Once notified, the ACLJ got directly involved. We sent a legal memorandum demanding that the school end its discriminating actions against Gina and uphold her First Amendment rights or face a federal lawsuit. Gina's rights were upheld ... an outcome we're certain would not have occurred if the ACLJ did not get involved. We especially thank the thousands of you who stood with us on behalf of Gina by signing our National Petition of Protest and sending a powerful message to the community college.

Seventy Years of Captivity

Imagine preaching the same message for 23 years and continually being rejected! Even though he was rejected, Jeremiah contined to proclaim the same message: "Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing." God is even more faithful us. He never stops loving us, even when we reject Him. Are you that faithful?

After Forcing Homosexual "Marriage" on California, Massachusetts and New York, And Attempting to Force Homosexuals into the Military, the Powerful Homosexual Lobby is Now Trying to Eliminate Mention of Sin from America's Bibles

Last week, it was reported in WorldNetDaily.com that a homosexual man has sued two Christian publishers, Zondervan and Thomas Nelson -- continuing the extreme harassment of Christians by the powerful homosexual lobby. It was not enough for them to defy the overwhelming majority of the voters of California (over 60% voted to outlaw homosexual "marriage" just a few years ago) and to defy an average 70% of American voters who have voted in 27 states so far outlawing these abominable "marriages," but they now need to delete any reference about homosexuality being a sin in the Bible.

The homosexual man, Bradley LaShawn Fowler, bringing the lawsuit is pretending that writing in the Bible that the practice of homosexuality is a sin violates his constitutional rights and causes him "emotional harm." Fowler is seeking $60 million from Thomas Nelson publishing company and $10 million from Thomas Nelson publishing company for publishing Bibles which say that the practice of homosexuality is a sin and an abomination. Thankfully, the homosexual lobby will suffer a huge loss when the citizens of California are expected to vote to outlaw homosexual "marriage" this November 4th when Americans also vote for a new president. California will undoubtedly join 27 other states which have banned homosexual "marriages" in their states by an average approval of state constitutional amendments of 70%. It is anticipated that voters in the states of Florida and in Arizona will also vote this November to ban such abominations, making a total of 30 states which have banned homosexual "marriages."
