Leviticus 10:2
So fire blazed forth from the Lord's presence and burned them up, and they died there before the Lord.
Sadly, after the good report of Leviticus 8:36, we see how careless Aaron's sons had become about following the laws for sacrifices. In response, God destroyed them with a blast of fire. Performing the sacrifices was an act of obedience. Doing them correctly showed respect for God and reminded the Israelites of God's holiness.
It's easy to grow careless about obeying God. At times we want to do what we want instead of what He wants. Yet the punishment of Aaron's sons is a chilling reminder of how seriously God takes obedience.
How serious are you about obeying God.
