The “Blue” Sheet
Now that you are 18, you will be thinking about marriage and a partner for life. I thought I’d write a letter to you that you can refer to from time to time. My prayer for you is that you will learn how to determine God’s will for your life. So I’m going to outline what God’s word says about choosing a mate. The Bible gives us the chronological steps to take in marriage. My prayer is that you will follow them closely so that you will have a successful and meaningful marriage like your Mom and Dad. For easier reference, I will number the steps that you should take. Check each one off as you feel you have completed them, for God’s richest blessing on your life and marriage.
PRE-PROMISE COURTESIES. DO THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU PROMISE TO MARRY ANYONE.
- DURING COURTSHIP GIVE YOUR BODY TO THE LORD
Do a Bible study on these verses and make a notebook on the results.
Romans 12:1-2- Dedicate your body to him.
1Corinthians 6:9-20- Use your body to glorify God.
1Thessalonians 4:1-8- Sanctification means to be set apart and clean for his use.
2Corinthians 6:14-18- Don’t date an unsaved person.
1Corinthians 3:16-17-Remember that God lives in your body-don’t defile it. Keep it clean.
- GET GOD’S WISDOM AND DIRECTION FOR YOUR LIFE.
Psalm 107:43- You will become wise and understanding of life as you grow in a knowledge of God’s characteristics, in your notebook, make a list of attributes of God. Understanding who He is will help you understand what He expects from you.
Proverbs 1:5- Be teachable and listen to those who give wise counsel.
Psalm 16:11-Ask God to show you the direction to take. Staying on His path brings joy.
Proverbs 3:5-8-Ask Him to provide the right husband / wife and trust Him to direct your choice.
Daniel 12:3- Strive for wisdom. There are so many good rewards awaiting you if you do.
Proverbs 9:12- If you want the best for yourself, make wisdom your #1 goal.
Ecclesiastes 9:1- Put yourself in God’s hands and accept whatever He sends.
Isaiah 5:21- When we rely on our own wisdom we fail. We need help.
Proverbs 16:20- I want you to be able to handle every matter in life skillfully. For this reason, I have put the emphasis on “doing your homework carefully before making any decision, “especially an important one like who you will submit to for the rest of your life.
Proverbs 9:9- Since you have acted wisely through your teen years, I expect you to get even wiser as you get older.
One important “wisdom gem.” A boy should not ask a girl to marry him until he finds out if she is willing to follow the same path that God has mapped out for him. Before I asked Mom to marry me. I told her that God had called me into full-time service. I then asked her if she was willing to go with me anywhere in the world even
- WATCH FOR GOD’S MATE AND STICK TO YOUR CONVICTIONS OR BE WILLING TO GO IT ALONE.
Don’t settle for 2nd best. Remember if dates don’t come, that sometimes only when we give up our lives and says, “I am willing to be single if that’s Your will for me.” Will God act and send you the right one? Many times Satan offers the 1st choice. Be guided by your convictions, not your feelings. You don’t fall in love. That’s stupid. You fall in ditches or down stairs. Plan your love life with God’s wisdom, using all the guidelines I have listed for you in this letter.
- WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE SPOTTED THE RIGHT ONE FOR A MATE, CHECK YOURSELF.
Do you both have the same spiritual Father? If he’s not a Christian he is not being controlled by God and His principles. Just because he’s a Christian is not enough either. Make sure that he’s an active leader who is regular in church and using his spiritual gifts and is producing fruit. Listen to him pray. You can tell a lot about a man by listening to his talk to God. Make sure he prays with you too, or forget it.
Do you both have the same spiritual goals in life? Are you both headed in the same direction, or can you fit into his “calling”? 1Peter 3:1 “wives fit in with your husbands plans.” (Living Bible)
Do you both have the same motivation for getting married? (To please God?) The couple that just can’t wait may have the wrong motivation.
- HONOR YOUR PARNETS. Remember that marriage is not simply the joining of two people. It’s the joining of two families. Before you say “yes” he should get your parents permission. Submission to authority is an extremely important principle taught in the Bible. Gods speaks to us through His “Authority Chain of Command .” Both sets of parents need to give their blessing. If they don’t , find out why and see if there are some good reasons for postponing marriage. After the pastor pronounces you “ husband and wife” you should both go to both sets of parents and kiss them. This kiss signifies that you both left the home correctly and you have their support and blessing.
- HONOR THE CHURCH BODY.
During courtship, get some feedback from at least 3 members of the church body. Ask the pastor, your Sunday School teacher or an older Elder to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both of you. You don’t obey man, you obey God. Sometimes man is wrong and will give you bad advice. However, listen carefully to all that your authorities say. No one wants the best for you more than these who are closest to you. They can also see “blind spots” that you cant always see.
- AFTER ALL THESE GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN FOLLOWED, AND ONLYT THEN.
Should a boy ask a girl to promise herself to him, Before you say “yes” make sure you study the following verses together. God hates divorce, because marriage is a sacred picture of the Lord and the church. See Ephesians 5.
2Peter 3:9-Mean what you say even like the Lord who always keeps His promises.
Psalm 105:8- Keep your promise forever. Marriage is for keeps.
Romans 1:31-32- Be careful what you promise. This is a warning to covenant breakers. They will receive the judgment of God.
Malachi 2:16- God hates divorce.
Malachi 2:14- The promise you make will not only to be to him, but to Him (God).
Ecclesiates 5:4-7- A fool says, “I made a mistake” and breaks his promise. It’s much better not to promise than to promise and break it.
POST PROMISE COURTESIES- DO THESE THINGS AFTER YOU PROMISE TO MARRY ANYONE.
CONSIDER YOUR PUBLIC OPPORTUNITIES TO WITNESS-SUBMIT TO THE PUBLIC
Make your intentions known.
Elopement sounds romantic but eliminates opportunities for public witness of Jesus.
Engagement parties are great for personal testimonies and sharing spiritual goals.
Ring showing is a time for praising God for the partner He sent.
Newspaper ads and church bulletins wisely written can bring glory to God.
Marriage is somewhat like baptism. It’s a time to testify. It’s a public demonstration of a biblical picture.
Ephesians 5:21-33- The husband’s love reminds us of how Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. The wife’s submission to her husband reminds us of how the church submits to Jesus.
SUBMIT TO GOVERNMENT. ROMANS 13
The license, physical test, psychological tests in premarital counseling all are designed to make us understand our responsibilities as marriage partners.
GET MARRIED BY GOD’S REPRESENTATIVE.
This is a holy service. Marriage is a Divine Institution. Submit to God’s representatives. Get their blessings on everything you do. It’s important to have a man of God marry you rather than a judge or a sea captain. Even unsaved people have within them that says, “it’s not a real marriage unless you get married in a church.” Unfortunately, unsaved people can only be 2/3rds married. They can be legally and physically married. Remember that the giving or taking away of the Pastor’s approval is based on. “Did you follow God’s plan and rules and guidelines?” He can’t put his blessing on someone who decides that he wants to marry an unsaved person. That’s like saying, “I’m going to steal; pray for me and put your blessing on
I am praying that these principles will become a part of your thinking because I love you and want the best for you. As you know, your name means, “Victory”. If God’s will is for you to marry. I want to help you to live up to the meaning of your name by being “Victorious” in your married life. That’s my # 1 desire for you, that’s why I began teaching you these principles when you were only a baby.
Love,
Dad
Scriptural Standards and Instructions for
Choosing a Mate
Recognize that the world’s way is not God’s way.
Prov. 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Recognize and accept God’s calling upon your life.
Prov. 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
Matt. 19:12…others have renounced marriage because of the Kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
1Cor. 7:32 I would like you to e free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife. And his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim Is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit, but a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband.
Recognize, respect, value, desire “substance” over “show. What should you look for in a mate?
Prov. 20:6 Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?
Micah 6:8 He has showed you, o man, what is good. And what does the lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Prov. 13:6 Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
Prov. 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
1Pet. 3:3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
Recognize and prayerfully accept God’s timing in your life.
Lam. 3:24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
Ps. 5:3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my request before you and wait in expectation.
Recognize that it is critically important that you Guard you heart….
Prov. 4:23 Above all else, guard you heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
Use God’s word to judge the thoughts and attitudes of your own heart, and the heart of any potential mate.
Hebr. 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thought and attitudes of the heart.
ATTRIBUTES OF THE MAN GOD HAS FOR ME

Send me this one
Or I wont get married
I’m going to stick to my convictions
She got what she prayed for.
Now, they are counseling couples who have marriage problems.
Circumstances eliminate all but a relatively few possibilities. Choosing wisely from the possibilities requires careful and prayerful employment of God’s word as the standard of evaluation for those who remain.
The Great Sifting process
Those I don’t know. Those who are too old or too young.
Those who are already married.
Those who aren’t Christians—2Cor.6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with Darkness?
Those who aren’t growing Christians—Col. 1:10 And we pray this in order that you may live worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.
bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful…. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Those who don’t share my basic convictions before God. Phil. 2:2 Then make my joy complete by being like—minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Those of whom my parents do not approve.

Maranatha
Maranatha" itself is an ancient Hebrew-Aramaic word that meant alternatively, "the Lord is coming soon," or "Oh, Lord, Come Soon." It was part of the Jewish congregational prayers in the first century. It occurs in the New Testament in 1 Cor. 16:22 (the Aramaic word is transliterated into Greek letters in the text). The word came into English as a transliteration as well, along with a few other Hebrew words ("Hallelujah" and "Hosanna" are other common examples).

Change is coming .... you voted for it!
As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.
So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change, I gave it to them.
I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

does this sound familiar
Exodus 5:6-9 (New Living Translation)
Making Bricks without Straw
7 “Do not supply any more straw for making bricks. Make the people get it themselves!
8 But still require them to make the same number of bricks as before. Don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy. That’s why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifices to our God.’
9 Load them down with more work. Make them sweat! That will teach them to listen to lies!”

U.S. military destroys soldier's Bibles
Reuters News says the Bibles were confiscated and destroyed after Qatar-based Al Jazeer television showed soldiers at a Bible class on a base with a stack of Bibles translated into the local Pashto and Dari languages. The U.S. military forbids its members on active duty -- including those based in places like Afghanistan -- from trying to convert people to another religion.

It's time to reach out to our friends and family.
20 Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side — leaders whose decrees permit injustice?
21 They gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.
23 God will turn the sins of evil people back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The Lord our God will destroy them.

No more restrictions on abortion.
That's what the proposed "Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA) would mean.
No more waiting periods. No more parental notification. No more ban on partial-birth abortion.
And Barack Obama promised Planned Parenthood he would sign it into law.
In fact, over the past three months, we've seen Obama's level of commitment to promote a liberal abortion agenda.
Within minutes of taking the Oath of Office, the official White House website was changed to add language supporting pro-abortion policies.
He has appointed numerous liberals from pro-abortion organizations like Emily’s List and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) to critical positions in the government.
Taxpayer Funding of Abortion…
Just days after being sworn in as President, Obama reversed the Bush policy against taxpayer funding for abortions overseas. Another campaign promise kept.
Congressional liberals even tried to use the “cover” of the economic stimulus bill to provide further taxpayer funding for “family planning” services.
What is FOCA?
In short, the Freedom of Choice Act is a federal bill that would end almost ALL restrictions on abortion. It is an unlimited right to tax-payer funded, abortion-on-demand. And liberals are pushing hard to get is passed.
The “Freedom of Choice Act” would:
Mandate taxpayer funding of abortion
Allow abortions in military hospitals
End waiting periods before having an abortion
Overturn laws requiring informed consent prior to abortion
Deny doctors the right to refuse to perform abortion for religious reasons
Force religious affiliated hospitals and facilities to perform abortions
Overturn many abortion clinic health regulations
Overturn laws prohibiting abortion after the viability of the child
Legalize partial-birth abortion

Warren's 'backsliding' on marriage damages church
A Washington, DC, pastor and outspoken opponent of same-sex "marriage" says California mega-church pastor Rick Warren has done "tremendous damage" by apologizing for his support last fall of California's marriage protection amendment.
Rick Warren said Monday on CNN's Larry King Live that he has "never been and never will be" an "anti-gay marriage activist," and made a point to inform the program's host that he apologized to his homosexual friends for comments he made in October to his church in support of Proposition 8 in California.

Update On Sharon Ries On Monday, Sharon had the lumpectomy and biopsy and came through the procedure well. They found cancer in the sentinel node and in 12 lymph nodes, so they removed all of her lymph nodes.
Due to lab test results, it is recommended that Sharon return for a simple mastectomy, the removal of her left breast. This procedure will take place within the next two weeks. It has also been recommended that she follow with chemo and radiation.
She is seeking the Lord’s guidance through each step of her treatment and knows the Lord is guiding her. During her surgery, Sharon had a vision of the Lord standing by her bed, watching over her and an angel in the room, protecting her. The Lord comforted her with this verse, “…I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5).
Sharon would like to thank everyone for the cards, flowers, scriptures, phone calls and love. She is rejoicing in God’s perfect will for her life. Though she walks through this valley, she knows she is with her Lord.
She is very excited about spending Easter with her family and has been busy getting her house ready for the celebration.
Please continue to pray for her and our family.
Souls for Christ,

Dear Friend,
Following the Iowa Supreme Court's unanimous ruling Friday that overturned state law protecting marriage as between a man and a woman, organizations across the country are urging ALL citizens to contact Iowa lawmakers. The Iowa House DOES have the ability to protect marriage by passing House Joint Resolution 6 (HJR 6), known as the Iowa Marriage Amendment.
HJR 6 is the first step toward giving Iowans the chance to vote to protect marriage, in response to the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling.
In order to debate HJR 6, the House must force it out of committee with a procedural vote. The House Republicans are prepared to initiate this procedural vote, but to pass it they need your help!
Take Action
Please contact the House Democrats listed below, and ask them to vote to bring HJR 6 out of committee. These legislators have indicated they support traditional marriage and therefore, they SHOULD vote to bring the IMA out of committee.

sacrifice
Your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.
REMEMBER our Troops, and do not forget them LATER

Press Release Regarding Inaccurate Information
PRESS RELEASE
Calvary Chapel Golden Springs February 13, 2009
In response to recent inquires and media reports, Calvary Chapel Golden Springs is issuing this statement regarding several inaccurate assumptions regarding our involvement with Nadya Suleman, the Whittier mother of octuplets.
Nadya Suleman has recently commented that she attends Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, which prompted several media follow up inquires concerning her attendance. Since our church is not membership-driven, we are unable to confirm or deny whether she actively attends this fellowship. We can say, however, that no one on our staff knows her. And to the best of our knowledge, Ms. Suleman's only contact with us was a minor inquiry regarding our Children's Ministry.
Ms. Suleman has also been credited with commenting that our church is involved with the establishment of a foundation for donation distribution, providing her with financial assistance, and helping her locate a new residence. Our church is not involved in any of these activities.Although we are not condoning the circumstances surrounding the conception, we are relieved that the birth of the infants was successful.
Because of the physical and emotional strain these eight newborn babies will place on her and her six young children, they will need spiritual guidance and child care assistance, twenty-four hours a day, from her surrounding community, for years to come. Also, these pre-mature infants may continue to need ongoing professional care throughout their lifetime.
Since Calvary Chapel Golden Springs will not be involved with the organization or handling of these professional assistance programs, we will direct individuals, who are willing to assist Ms. Suleman, to the already established web sites that are committed to organizing and supporting Ms. Suleman and her children.

Daniel
To declare the sovereignty of God over all world rulers and kingdoms as an encouragement to Jewish exiles in Babylon and those returning to Israel.
One theme dominates the book of Daniel: kingdoms. Through Daniel's personal experiences in the royal court of Babylon and through his visions. God taught His people vital lessons about human and divine kingdoms.
As a young man, Daniel was part of a group or Israelites exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem in 605 B.C. He quickly rose through the ranks (along with his friends Shadrach, meshach, and Abednego) as a wise and trusted counselor to the royal court. God revealed to Daniel sweeping vistas of present and future events related to Babylon and kingdoms that would follow. But the most far-reaching of Daniel's visions concerned the ultimate establishment of the Kingdom of God - a kingdom that would have no end.........................................

Obama acts quickly, lays out his abortion and gay agenda
One of his first moves pushes social issues to the top.
January 21, 2009
It didn't take long for President Barack Hussein Obama to move his social issues to the top of his to-do list.
His agenda can be found here, taken directly from the White House home page.
This is only the beginning of Obama's plans to reshape society. His view is that unborn babies aren't worth protecting and that homosexuals deserve special rights.
Now, not later, is the time to let President Obama know that you oppose his efforts. People like you who oppose taking the life of the unborn and who oppose giving special rights to those who practice of perverted sex need to take action now!
It is time to ask your friends and family who have not been engaged to get involved. This is not the time to quit. It is a time to act! Our children and grandchildren are counting on us!
Take Action!
Send an e-mail to President Obama. It will go directly to the White House.
Please forward this to your family and friends so they can read about Obama's priorities.
